Ringing in the Year of the Goat

Last Thursday, residents and guests of The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta were treated to a decadent evening of food, music and culture to usher in the year of the goat for the 2015 Chinese New Year. Welcomed by live baby goats and Atlanta’s newest goat sculptures designed by local artist Phil Proctor, partygoers dined on dumplings, noodles, and a variety of delicious Chinese fare. Ribbon dancers, tai chi experts and a traditional dragon dance added to the festivities, while a calligraphy room and ‘selfie station’ stocked with Chinese fans and other props were available for guests to create a unique souvenir.

3-D Luxury Views

Luxury homebuyers today aren’t satisfied with looking at a flyer or a website anymore. This class of buyers needs to get a true feel of what it would be like to live in a property before they buy with video or a 3-D tour. Which is exactly what the The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta is now using to market and sell our exclusive condominiums.

We recently created a 3-D tour of our model unit, which allows users to “walk around” the inside of the unit, as well as view the floor plan from above. The 3-D tour even allows you to look out the windows at the stunning views, as well as walk out onto the 300-square-foot patio. Experience the furnished model at The Residences by walking through each room in the 3-D tour below.

New Art Installation at Mandarin Oriental Showcases Chinese New Year (Year of the Goat)

The Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta is constantly bringing in new art from all over the city, so for residents, it’s like living in an art gallery. Yesterday, the hotel installed two whimsical goat sculptures to the front drive and English Garden, created by local artist Phil Proctor. The pieces have arrived just in time as the hotel’s staff prepares to celebrate the Year of the Goat at its annual Chinese New Year party next week.

Though the Chinese Zodiac describes people who are born in the Year of the Goat as calm and amicable, Phil used the sculptures to depict the concept of awareness. He explains, “All too often, we find ourselves immersed in work, worry or just the everyday tasks of life and our awareness of self and our place is clouded. There is one goat that raises his head up to sense his surroundings. As he does, he sees all the other goats with their heads buried. He experiences the beauty of his surrounding while the others only see what’s right in front of their nose. This analogy of life is familiar to all of us. It’s a reminder to look up and remember what’s really important in life.”

The sculptures will be on display until April.
