Recently appointed General Manager, David Collas, brings 30 years of experience in luxury hospitality to both residents and guests at the Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta. We asked David about his role and how he works with his staff to ensure that Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta is a leader in residential experience.
How did your career lead you to and prepare you for your current role at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta?
Collas: My hospitality career began when I entered culinary school at 16 years of age. I have now been working in the industry for 30 years in a variety of destinations around the world including Paris, London, Hong Kong, New York, Cannes and Aspen. I have been fortunate to work with very talented people and to have had extensive opportunities to be immersed in various cultures and styles of organizations.
What do customers today expect and demand from a luxury hotel?
Collas: Each guest has a different expectation for their experience and the capability to deliver on each of those personal expectations is what luxury is all about. Outstanding amenities are important, but it is the customized experience and personal touch that we provide that truly makes a stay memorable.
