Luxury Housing News

740x-1

The Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta is at the forefront of trends and technology in luxury high-rise living. Below are links to three noteworthy real estate stories that caught our eye recently.

For the Super-Rich, the Bathroom Must Have a Stunning View, Too by Mark Ellwood of Bloomberg.

Excerpt:

“’I always suggest designing bathrooms with a view,’ [Clodagh] told us by phone from her office in New York. ‘That’s a room, remember, that used to be called a water closet, because it was so tucked away. But you spend eight or 10 hours in there a week, and it’s one of the places where you can refresh, renew and get natural light. The skin is the largest organ on your body, and taking in natural light is very propitious for health and wellness.’”

As Markets Waver, the Rich Park Money in Luxury Homes by Kerry Hannon of The New York Times.

Excerpt:

“Generally speaking, buying an upscale property to use as a getaway has traditionally been viewed as a lifestyle investment. Stocks and bonds cannot give you the same satisfaction as a heated saltwater pool with a waterfall, surrounded by mahogany decking, and Amagansett ocean breezes.”

Warhols and Other Fine Art Has Emerging Role in Luxury Real Estate by Andy Battaglia of Mansion Global.

Excerpt:

“’Art adds an extra layer of je ne sais quoi,’ [Kirman] said. ‘Buyers don’t even realize what it is that makes a house pop, but a good house with good furniture and good art really sets the tone for what feels like fine living. It adds exclusivity and interestingness that makes a house feel more special.’”

How did you get your start in the Spa industry?

I always had a passion for wellness and beauty at a young age. My mother’s dear friend was an aesthetician and introduced me to the proven science behind skincare. After attending college for business administration, I decided to refocus my studies on the spa and wellness sector and attended school to become an aesthetician. I enrolled in an intensive program which exposed me to many different facets of skin histology. After receiving my license and working for some of the most prestigious Spas, I furthered my education my attending a rigorous course study in student instruction. Armed with dual degrees, I was able to work alongside many industry veterans where we collaborated on many health and wellness initiatives.

What’s the best part about working in the Spa industry?

We work in an environment that promotes wellbeing and holistic mindfulness. Many of our guests seek us out to help restore balance to their lives. It’s so very important to connect with guests on a personal level to truly understand how we as professionals can bring about the most impactful changes to their lives. The colleagues we work with are passionate professionals who strive to deliver delightful experiences to our guests.

What is your favorite way to relax in the home?

I think it’s important to always take time for yourself. I start my day with a guided meditation. This truly helps to clear the mind and sets the intention for the day. I also take time out at the end of every day to find a quiet space to reflect on the day’s happenings. This helps bring a balance to my evening and allows me be present with my family.

The Residences Featured on Second Shelters

The Residences attract a variety of luxury buyers, from jetsetters to business leaders to those craving a lock-and-leave lifestyle. So, we invited Jon Anderson from Second Shelters to visit The Residences and see what this unique lifestyle is all about. He shared his favorite parts about the penthouse, mused on what makes the Maisonettes special and shared the news that only a few tower residences remain in an article this week. Here is an excerpt –

One episode of Designing Women has Julia Sugarbaker boast, “I don’t like to brag, but I’ve turned a few heads in my time.” To which Mary Jo retorts, “Well, you didn’t do it with those.”  Of course they weren’t talking about the Atlanta penthouse situated atop the Mandarin Oriental hotel and condominium project, because heads would certainly turn without argument.

The unfinished shell is two full floors encompassing 9,627 square feet with four bedrooms and four full, plus three half bathrooms.  It’s listed with Karen Rodriguez of GROUP KORA, part of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.  The price is a secret … well, not a secret, but it depends what a buyer wants.  There’s a shell price. Finished out similar spec to the other units price. And a “ya want us to do what?” price.
