The Residences Featured on Second Shelters

The Residences attract a variety of luxury buyers, from jetsetters to business leaders to those craving a lock-and-leave lifestyle. So, we invited Jon Anderson from Second Shelters to visit The Residences and see what this unique lifestyle is all about. He shared his favorite parts about the penthouse, mused on what makes the Maisonettes special and shared the news that only a few tower residences remain in an article this week. Here is an excerpt –

One episode of Designing Women has Julia Sugarbaker boast, “I don’t like to brag, but I’ve turned a few heads in my time.” To which Mary Jo retorts, “Well, you didn’t do it with those.”  Of course they weren’t talking about the Atlanta penthouse situated atop the Mandarin Oriental hotel and condominium project, because heads would certainly turn without argument.

The unfinished shell is two full floors encompassing 9,627 square feet with four bedrooms and four full, plus three half bathrooms.  It’s listed with Karen Rodriguez of GROUP KORA, part of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.  The price is a secret … well, not a secret, but it depends what a buyer wants.  There’s a shell price. Finished out similar spec to the other units price. And a “ya want us to do what?” price.

“In the most luxurious buildings, the homeowners have several homes around the world, so housekeeping services and top-notch concierge services are extremely important,” says Teplitzky. “Even more important is to have a private dining room staffed with a chef: That’s the most exclusive restaurant in town, since you have to be a resident to dine there.”

It’s in the Numbers: Luck and Superstition Sell Luxury Real Estate by Anne Machalinski of Mansion Global.

If we had this interview in another two or three years, it might be quite a different story.’”

Next month, Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta will introduce a variety of delightful promotions to benefit the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance (GOCA). Teal is the official color of the organization, so the promotions – which range from spa treatments to tempting desserts – will follow that theme.

The Spa will be offering the Teal Good To Be True treatment throughout the month, with 20 percent of each treatment booked being donated to GOCA. The treatment begins with a full body skin brushing, and Mandarin Oriental’s signature reflect oil – a blend of jasmine, juniper, black pepper and ginger, is applied to the body during a targeted massage that focuses on the neck, shoulders and lower back. The experience is completed with a foot massage.

In The Café & Bar, a special menu of teal-colored drinks and desserts will be available throughout November, with 20 percent of proceeds benefitting GOCA. The drinks include the Demise in Violet, a concoction with muddled blueberries, gin, lemon juice, and crème de violet topped with bubbles, and the dessert is a blueberry pound cake.

americancut_atlanta_4

One of Atlanta’s most vibrant neighborhoods, Buckhead is known for its posh culture scene, including dining, nightlife and wellness. It’s no surprise that luxury condos in Buckhead are in high demand, given that most have easy access to unique experiences, chef-driven restaurants and world-class shopping. Here’s what’s new in Buckhead this month.

American Cut is Open

A long-awaited steakhouse from Food Network Iron Chef Marc Forgione is finally open in the heart of Buckhead Village. American Cut includes a casual bar, top-floor cocktail lounge, expansive dining room and private dining boardrooms for all your business lunch needs. Their signature steak is the “pastrami” bone-in ribeye, a 20 oz. cut that’s been dry-aged for four weeks, lightly smoked and rubbed in garlic, ginger, coriander and other spices and then seared, and it can be topped with any of American Cuts signature sauces, from bone marrow butter to foie gras.

Bon Glaze Opens a Donut Window

Buckhead residents have a new option to satisfy their sweet tooth at Bon Glaze, a craft donut shop that hails from Brookhaven. Bon Glaze is known for its super creative donuts, candied bacon, Liege waffles and, of course, coffee. The new location also has an adorable walk-up window for to-go orders of its flight, fluffy confections.

Ted Baker London Opening This Month

British lifestyle brand Ted Baker London plans to debut its first Atlanta outpost at Buckhead’s Lenox Square this month. The boutique knowns for its creative storefronts will open with Ted’s Autumn Winter 2016 womenswear, menswear and accessories collections, and the décor will be inspired by a combination of the classic London café and the American Diner, with bar stools in the fitting rooms and a cash register made of classic car parts.

The Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta is at the forefront of trends and technology in luxury high-rise living. Below are links to three noteworthy real estate stories that caught our eye recently.

Sleek Italian Kitchens Cross the Pond by Amy Gamerman of The Wall Street Journal.

Excerpt:

“For some high-end buyers, a sexy kitchen provides an element of fantasy—like an Italian sports car parked in the driveway—that can seal the deal on a multimillion-dollar property. ‘It’s selling a vision of a certain lifestyle that’s clean and modern,’ said Gidi Cohen, a Los Angeles developer who gave one Sunset Strip manse a slick Pedini kitchen makeover before listing it for $16.5 million (and selling it for an undisclosed amount last year). “Whoever sees this kitchen wants to start taking cooking classes.’

A $350,000 Luxury Condo … For Your Car by Kathryn Vasel of CNN Money.

Excerpt:

“There’s a luxury condo building planned for Miami that will offer 24-hour security, climate-controlled units, a members-only social club and concierge services. But you won’t be able to live in the building. Only your car can.”

Enjoy High-End Amenities Years Before Moving In at These Luxury Residences by Kathryn Hopkins of Mansion Global.

Excerpt:

“In the past, developers showed buyers what their lifestyles could be like if they purchased one of these luxury condos through videos and brochures, but now they are showcasing it through actual experiences.”

The Penthouse at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta Featured on House Envy

unspecified

Atlanta Magazine’s House Envy blog covers the most fabulous homes throughout the region, so it’s no surprise that the stunning penthouse at The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta was featured last week. The magazine spoke with Robert Tretsch, the mastermind behind the proposed plan for the 10,000-square-foot home to discuss his design vision.

Tretsch’s floorplan reflects the luxury lifestyle of its prospective owners and includes a library, music room, fitness room, gourmet kitchen, keeping room, catering kitchen, and two balconies. He envisions a staff bedroom on the first floor and three guest rooms and a master bedroom upstairs, as well as upper and lower lounges. The two levels will be connected by a sweeping curvilinear staircase.

The master bedroom will feature two large closets, and the master bath will have an enormous shower with two shower heads. The spa, which will incorporate a sauna, steam bath, and soaking tub, will have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the mountains of North Georgia. In fact, almost every room will come with a breathtaking view.
